It was quite an American Thanksgiving weekend, with a number of surprises on the football field. Had Washington been able to cap off an overtime touchdown drive with a 2 point conversion, the complexion of the Loser Pool could have been very different. As it was, they covered, also preventing another Perfect Week in the SuperContest. I blame Jason. Anyway, here’s what happened in the pools this week.
SuperContest
Another week, another lack of a perfect 5-point score. Incredibly in 13 weeks, we’ve only had 3 thus far. As a group we’re just over 1% on the season, which is wild when it’s usually somewhere around 3% (last season was over 4%). If we look at the other end, Jason has 3 bagels all by himself. I think his performance may even be worse than Conrod’s from a couple years ago. If he’d picked the opposite pick each week, he’d pretty much have the pool wrapped up already, with a 9.5 point lead.
The two most popular picks this week paid off, with both Tampa and Houston rewarding over 50% of the pool each, with a win. All of this week’s 4-point scorers were on the Texans.
Survivor Pools
Both Survivor pools started the week with 5 remaining entries, and each ended up losing one. The Rams and the Eagles did them dirty. You can tell we’re getting deep into the season with the Chargers and Dolphins being the popular selections for the season long pool. We’re definitely getting to the portion of the season where attrition starts setting in and the options get limited. Congrats to those that have made it this far.
Loser Pool
Congrats to Nick Salaris, with 63 points over the last 2 weeks, picking both Super Bowl teams while facing the Cowboys. Fun fact (in case you couldn’t have already guessed): Nicky is a Cowboys fan. As he was close to the bottom of the standings (a far cry from last year’s win), he’s been the biggest climber each of the past two weeks.
Washington was again the popular pick, and likely will remain as such the rest of the regular season. It would have been quite a different week if Mariota could have tossed the ball a little higher over the blitzer.
On Deck
Week 14 in the football pools
World Cup Draw on Friday - Pool will likely be set up around final qualifiers.
Playoff Football Pool coming soon!
Shoutout
Well done, Mark Vallee. Mark is the only person with an entry left in both Survivor Pools.
